    Not sure what to do now....I need/want one, but don't want to waste any amount of money if they cant even be accurate.

    Even though they cost a lot more, look at the professional grade scales that scrap yards use. You'll probably be glad you got one in the long run.

    Not at that quite yet. Portable one is best for me. I went ahead and bought one. I know enough computer guys here (a few in my wife's family) that if it needs tweeking or whatever, they can handle it.
