The reason we took pictures of those capacitors are because they were the cleanest we wiped the capacitors to make a clear shot of the labels. But, most of all green Tantalum Capacitors are not produced anymore and we have not seen such great looking Green Capacitors for at least 6-7 Years now.

If you look closely at the bag 97% of the material does not have leads attached to them - These capacitors were clipped off of boards and are now heading for recycling. Please look at the zoomed picture!

I have noticed the green & blue epoxy seal on the "Anode" side of silver/tantalum capacitors. Is this maybe a quick way to tell the difference between other axial type tantalum capacitors? Is there other colors to look for?

Yes, it is a good way to reference if you may have Silver/Tantalum Capacitors - But i will say that the majority of Silver Tantalum Capacitors do not have a green top.
I suggest paying attention to the rivet on the top end of the capacitor and the markings on the side of the capacitors.

I try to use a data sheet reference for my final conformation. Though it helps to use as many quick spot "shortcuts" as I can, in the initial hunt. Still like a kid at a "Easter Egg Hunt", but I'm learning, getting better at it and most of all having fun with it!

The "red top" capacitors are made by Vishay, they are a wet tantalum capacitor, with a silver case. These are Vishay's MTP series subminiture wet tantalum capacitors. There is four case sizes, with following weights: A - 0.5 g, B - 1.0 g, C - 2.6 g, D - 0.4 g (1 gram = 0.035 ounce).

Thanks for posting the picture of them, as I have some of these. I was sure they were tantalum caps and your picture motivated me to research them.

I have some blue tear drop capacitators...the polarity is not marked but it says 10j and 6kv...they are magnetic. are these Ta caps?..thanks for the great info...i find the smd caps are more common with the black/grey stripe outnumbering the yellow/orange stripe.

May you please advise if you have the model number for this capacitors - Because the picture is blurry I cannot fully tell if the material is a Tantalum Capacitor.
