Most of what I scrap is telecom equipment and I see the epoxy and smd caps all the time. I just went out in the garage and this card was at the top of the pile.

CCRcameron, By looking at the pic, (last one) I'd say those are what I call can capacitors or electrolytic caps. The negative marks is the tattletale. "Thank you Wiki"

Try a little "demolition test" on #7 & #9 and for that matter any you question on them being Tantalum cap. If you take a large pair of channel locks and squeeze the cap and it easily makes a impression or dent, more than likely not Tantalum. This info I learned from reading the old post of a long time member who knows a thing or two about Tantalum caps. Also with these caps try your magnet, all of the tantalum caps I have found have magnetic properties. So do a lot of the leads on a lot of other caps. As Mechanic said most, if not all of these look like electrolytic caps. The man that runs this thread will have to tell yes or no on the specifics of what he buys. One thing I should clarify, use the "channel lock test" only on the metal caps, if you do that on the epoxy/plastic one your only going to make a mess!

What do you call the bean-looking things that are tan and blue? And how much per pound?

Hi I just wanted to take time and thank you for the thread which is very informative, helpful and also to leave some feedback. I sent Ronald approximately 13lbs of mixed tanti's and within one week( much quicker than the other guy) they emailed me their results with weights on each type I had and my total $$$. I was then notified that my check was in the mail. It arrived today. THANK YOU!!! It was a very pleasant experience and I will definitely be giving them all my TA capacitor business.
Cheers,
Andre

I find it odd that most of the caps you show are new. Are they factor seconds that can't be used?
