P.S. Sorry didn't see a page 2 already. I knew about the law that outlawed melting US pennies but didn't know about the nickels. Funny how they never did that with the silver content coins. Hmmm.....

I've been putting my pre-1982 pennies off to the side for the past 6 months or so just for giggles. I'm surprised how few a person actually finds in change. Almost no pre-1960s so I don't know if most of the wheats have been picked off or what. So basically what I find is from 1961 through 1981 (I know some 1982 pennies were still 95% Cu put I just don't try figuring them out). So out a couple hundred pennies when we empty our change to put in the kids higher ed stash about every 6 weeks or so, I find about 3-4 dozen tops of pre-1982 pennies. Maybe there's more people hording pennies then we think???

P.S. I pick off the older CAN pennies as well for my "stash" when I find them
