Legos....$$$$$$

My legos were gone the day that my mom stepped on the tiny single-block lego barefooted.

I must have been punished severely because I can't even remember what happened between the time that my mom yelled every dirty word in the book to me noticing that there were no more legos in the toy box.

I do very well with Minifigs! The Star Wars ones are very collectible! It's crazy how many people buy them, I get triple the views on Legos that I do on Escrap and CPU components.

Comic books, sports cards, lego, they all have little value aside from their sentimental value. Sell while the market is hot, it will cool off. Don't be the one without a chair when the music stops.

I had several older sets of star wars legos. I sold them on ebay and was expecting to get $100-$150, but the auction ended at $450. I was pretty ecstatic!

I have seen a few on here talk about how legos are not a great investment, etc. My reaction, is who the heck truly cares if it is better or worse than anything else.

The point is, is that people are BUYING it!!!! Whether it is miscellaneous legos, or complete sets!

You want buyers, go onto ebay and there is 10's of thousands on there. You want local ones, then go to the "Wanted" section of craigslist. I know in my area there is several local buyers for lego's.

Everyone has their own personal investment that they prefer. Whether it is stocks, gold, diamonds, oil, legos, mutual funds, etc.

Where some see a failure, others see their retirement laid out nicely for them.

Sweet just weighed my 3 box's of lego's from when i was a kid.

1. 98 pounds
2. 77 pounds
3. 124 pounds

And to think i was, thinking of giving them away to a friends kid.

Everyone said houses were a good investment and then that market crashed? It's all in how you play the market. I think houses will always be a good investment if you play the numbers right, same thing with legos!

Since I deal with real estate, I can say the quickest and easiest way to make money, is by wholesaling. There will always be properties for sale, and buyers for them. Simply connecting the 2 is the biggest issue for most. Once you build a reputable buyers list, it is like taking candy from a baby in a sense.

Others like me would say to find properties that cash flow from the start rent them to good tenants without missing a month. Right now with a 15 or 30yr mtg at under 4% and depressed prices this is very easy to do. I like the 10% rule with interest rates where they are. Take the total cost of the home with interest rates where they are and if you can get 10% of that back in monthly rent your good to go. Someone will pay off your house for you and put a lil money in your pocket every month.

So, back to Legos. I don't think anyone if investing in Legos rather, they are taking advantage of "arbitrage opportunities" (defined as: "the opportunity to buy an asset at a low price then immediately selling it on a different market for a higher price."). With legos, most of us are buying them and then selling them right away to make a profit. I don't believe people are investing in mixed Legos, hanging onto them for years and years for the hope that they increase in value. Perhaps there are people hanging onto collector legos like the Millenium Falcon but, not mixed legos unless their kids are still playing with them.

Thanks for the post George. I went ahead and looked up some posts on Legos. I hope to try to make some arbitrage profits with Legos sometime soon.
