People use to also collect Sports cards for an "investment" and the market fell apart. These don't seem like much of an investment at all.

I could buy 12K in gold or a lego MILLENNIUM FALCON. Tuff decision.

Some people have too much money.

I did buy lego sets for my kids to play with/eat when they were little.

Hopefully the guys buying these things are doing so for their own enjoyment.

I'm the one who started the Lego thread. Since then I have had some luck finding them at garage sales and thrift stores. The problem is it is usually pieces scattered in with other toys, or the kid/person was a collector and has some idea of the value.

I did some research into the buyers of the said "pricey" legos. These are grown men age 30-50 who some have entire rooms dedicated to collecting and some have spent in excess of 100k. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY MEGA BLOCKS! These look like legos but cannot be sold for lego prices-almost like "chinese motherboards".

I found that out the hard way. I started out collecting as a hobby, tried to turn it into a part-time business, and then went back to collecting as a hobby. I still collect, and I still sell. I sell my doubles and inserts on another site and use the money to buy cards I need to fill my sets. Nothing big, nor does it cover my addiction -- oops, hobby. But it helps.
