The buy back I manage used to pay at the most 35%. However, our vendors no longer choose to buy huge heaps of aluminum bicycle frames and such.
So, now, there is more work involved and we have to pay employees as well as bills to run the equipment (hydraulic shears, forklifts, etc) to manage further break down of these items.
The price point for breakage after ward dropped to less then 10% of Alum. We just pay the same as shred now a days. It ain't pretty or fun dealinh with that sort of blowback at the scale, but it was a necessary step, I suppose.
