    We've got a Diesel 100 kw vintage WW2 military surplus that we use for a backup generator at work. It's got to be at least seventy years old. Still runs reliably for days on end when the power is out. Granted ... there are some pretty good diesel mechanics in the area.

    Bought a smaller 6.5 kw diesel new about five years ago for use at home. The exciter winding on the gen head burnt up after 125 hours of use.

    Difference is in the quality of the build. One was made in the USA. The other was assembled in the USA from parts made in China.
