I'm a Ford man... Alas my pretty Chevy s 10 that I got for a steal has payed it for itself many times over. For bigger hauls a 16 ft trailer, it has semi permanent walls removable for vehicle hauling. My partner pulls the trailer with a v8 ford explorer.
Just got my 92 Chev 1500 single cab long box last week. 5.0 auto 4x4. Paid 850 and it has 201K
2003 Ford F150 Extended Cab, 2 wheel drive with Ya Baby 327,000 miles. 90K on the motor. It's an old Enterprise rental truck.
3/4 ton Ford f250. 6.0L diesel.
2002 F-150 XL 2.6L V8. Got it two years ago for $5,500 with only 62,000 miles on her.
1994 F-150 long bed, 5 speed, 300 six. It is a good truck, but it is geared a bit too high, and I would like more weight capacity for steel scrapping. On the up side, the mileage is good.
I have used everything i own to haul scrap or ewaste so i will list my fleet
1985 Ford F-250 6.9 Diesel, hypermax turbo, boxed frame, snow plow, dump bed, gooseneck hitch.
1987 Chevy G30 Cargo Van, 6.2 Diesel, bought at scrap price, changed the glowplug controler and have put thousands of miles, on it
1987 Chevy R10 Truck, 6.2 Diesel, 5 speed swap,Bought at scrap price, had a bad auto trans, currently running on used motor oil.
1990 Dodge 1 Ton Van 5.9L. shop truck complete with 7 full tool boxes, welder, generator, air compressor, and parts inventory
1991 Honda Civiv 1.5L bought at scrap price drove it home after changing to distributor with another found in a junk car.
1999 Ford Contour SVT, bought at less then scrap, had battery installed backwards and blew the main fuse, replaced fuse and drove home. I try not to haul anything in this one but sometimes i cant pass it up
1999 Chrysler 300M 3.5L HO The nice car
1999
Its still running but thats about all i can say for it. I filter the oil in several stages ending with a1 micron filter and havent had anything plugged. but the injection system was in bad shape when i bought the truck and its worse now but i cant say if it was used oil that is finishing it off or it it was inevitable. The truck doesnt owe me a thing i could still part it out for more then i have in it and it gets me around for free when i want to fight with it. i have 4 or 5 more pumps for it i may put one in it and see what happens
Sounds like my truck, i knew my pump and injectors were worn(arlready smoking) so i ran motor oil for as long as i could. i had tons of white smoke at all throttle levels, Then it got near impossible to start, so i replaced the pump and injectors. I ran 25% motor oil after that but still got a little white smoke, now i am on diesel and the exhaust is clear.
Are you getting lots of white smoke?
My truck happens to be my first four wheeled vehicle:D 1992 GMC C1500 (otherwise known as Sierra after 99')
its a 1978 chevy luv, very small, gets great mileage, its a tough little scrap truck and i wouldnt trade her for nothing...cheap to gas up, cheap to insure, gets in those tight spots, pulls my trailer great! LUV THE LUV
its smoking black all the time but it was running so poorly when i got it i messed with the pump timing and have the fuel screw a bit of a turn, it smokes black on straight #2 diesel and smokes alot worse on used motor oil
2002 Iveco daily spec lift,(under lift)crew cab.
Bike trailers are lower than truck beds, but the cheap baby hauler type of trailer can be awkward for large bulky items. I saw an ad once for a steel flatbed trailer with walls and did not realize how useful that would be. I might have to build or modify one.
Just got a Chevy 3500 today.

1988 Ford ranger 2.3 5 speed ex cab... have had 950 pounds in the bed and 1800 in the trailer, had pallet rack peices that were about 12 feet long and 6 feet wide stacked on the rails of a 5x12 trailer about 6 feet tall. hauled junk riding mowers and appliances on a dual axle 16ft trailer, Got to the yard and they said man you must have a pretty stout V6 to handle that.. Just looked at them and said pretty good for a old 4 banger huh?
