    The hard drive platters are primarily made of aluminum. I have read they may have a palladium (another precious metal) coating on them, but it is not enough to bother with.
    He is correct in his answer but we're saving ours up till we get a small tote full then their going to a buyer. Here's one buyers price; Hard Drive Platters $.35 per LB
    this might help if you recognize any of these gold plated ends.
