100 per ton at western metals in Denver. 2600 # tin. Not amused.
I will be taking a small load this week. It seems I will be in for a pleasant surprise.
Rochester IN, $155 a ton.
I didnt sell any shred today only some Alum and stainless. But shred was down another 20/ton
Now 135, was 155/ton.
My area is terrible. Scrap prices are so much lower than other places. Problem is, this yard is the only one around my area that pays. So I suppose they can charge whatever they want. Shred is down to $70/ton where I'm at. It's terrible. I only take it in because I get so much of it. I end up throwing in a lot of really dirty stuff with lots of plastic just to make some more weight.
Our appliances are paying $ 25 a ton and tin is all the way up to $ 50 a ton. I expect it will go lower because the scrap yard is running out of storage space.

The 720 pound ticket was from office furniture and file cabinets from one business 4 miles from the scrapyard from a 10 day old Craigslist Ad.
It's down to $100/ton for scrap at Atlas last I checked.
Denver Scrap Metal charges a 3$ "Environmental fee" for any payout $20 or higher, doesn't matter what you have on your truck, but they do take things some other yards don't ex. circuitboards.
Denver Scrap Metal Recycling down to 100/ton, as you can see it was 110/ton yesterday.
:-l
Guess I need to call first from now on.
There was someone there today being very loud in the lobby on the phone claiming he had over $200 worth of copper/non-ferrous, and then saying he only got $13 for it. Hmmmm.... yeah... something is wrong, not with the yard, but that guy thinking he had that much non-ferrous. That yard pays the least for non-ferrous, but not THAT much less than everyone else LOL.
That may be the reason they are not paying very much if that is a common practice in that part of the country. Yards get to know their customers and remember those that are respectful and ethical in their business practices. Another thing to consider is that the prices quoted on the forum range from the public (board) price to the price given to special customers. Some yards only have one price tier and others have multiple tiers. The increments between tiers also differs from yard to yard. To compare prices across the country you need to know if they are giving board prices or their price. When a member posts their receipt, you know the price they are getting. Some members only quote the board price because they do not want to disclose their business practices. When you study the forum you will know who is quoting what and a general comparison can be made.
$105 net ton
Shred still @ 165/ton, South side of Chicago (Shredder yard)
Shred @ 135/ton far south suburbs (Non shredder yard)
A few days old, but...
Expect prices to go lower as yards, smelters, and foundries are plugging up. Florence could reduce prices even more with extra metal that will move to the front of the pipeline. Damage to foundries, smelters, and ports will reduce the flow of metal toward the east coast. Even after the damage from the storm has been dealt with, we will have a back log of metal in the pipeline. Just my guess.
Monday the word was going down 20/ton. He was right again, shred down another 20 to 145/ton.

Plus they are giving 10 cents a pound for all escrap. I take the boards out of stuff, any low grade stuff goes to them. I even take the boards off of hard drives and other disk drives. They get the drives with no boards. That's better than shred and better than irony aluminum prices.
Also, car bodies are $115/nt. If I come across a car, I usually fill it to the brim with any and everything I can find that would be shred,( they will buy it all as car bodies).
