When down in the dumps I play the easiest level and when I feel cocky I play more challenging levels. I heard the interest in chess saw a significant increase during the pandemic.

It was also partially due to a (fictional) netflix show starring a chess prodigy. It was a pretty good show and won some awards I think. I also saw that chess sets were selling out due to the shows popularity and the pandemic.
