Find out when you can come in to get boxes. THe night shift usualy stocks everything for the next day and a person on the day shift feeds boxes into the compacter for a few hours. You have to find the time between those 2 functions and every walmart is different. You will get all the free boxes you want.

Just giving you a hard time

Since I am still kind of small time, I have no issues in just going to uhaul and spending a few bucks. But when I go to walmart next (which is multiple times per weeks thanks to my wife), than I will speak to them and see what can be done.
