    Biting the Bigger Bullet

    Well, Here I Go!
    I rented a 1,000 sq.ft. warehouse this April.

I have already outgrown the space.
I agreed to lease a new location and I will be moving to my new space in July.
It is a 5,000 sq.ft. warehouse in a terrific metropolitan area.
3 loading docks, one with an electric dock leveler.
Formerly a refrigerated warehouse, it should be well insulated: Keeping me from frostbite as well as heat stroke.
It has offices, floor drains and 2 bathrooms.
    I am excited (& apprehensive!)
This time, it is Go Big or Go Home.
Wish me luck! It's a BIG move ($$$)

Nice Website. I'm curious about the wire harvesting. How often do you get jobs like that and what percentage do you return to the customer? Are you reselling or scrapping the telecom wire?

I had the brainstorm not too long ago. I haven't had any contracts to do so yet.
I would sell the wire for scrap: no question.
There is so much abandoned wire out there...
Lots of risk, though... You could do a lot of damage if you removed the wrong wires!

    Spin,

If you do get one of those jobs, do some investigation before selling those CAT 5 / Ethernet wires. Within an hours drive of me, I can sell that for $1.20 a pound. They will actually pick up for free if I have over 100 pounds.

Tore down a engine, transmission and transfer case earlier today. When it was said and done, I was wishing I had a shower and washer/dryer out in the shop. At least I live alone, so no missus to get mad at me.

    Congrats on the new place.

Raymond is getting Cruise Control and an Ah-Oogah horn when he makes his way on the flatbed to his new home.

I've gotta say, when I saw your old warehouse, I thought that lift must have felt like a caged animal. Now he can roam free!

    LIFO warehouse!

I have a bit more room, but mine is like that too. That's why I opted for a manual-push pallet stacker. Pros - Easy to move around in tight spaces, light enough to manuever onto my light trailer. Cons - A hard drive screw will stop it dead in its tracks, 36" pallet width max pick-up from floor.

New space has some cool former meat locker options. Huge sliding electric door at the entry, super high ceilings, leveling docks. LIFO warehouse no more!
