Well, I am new to the forum and thought I would let you know my experience with Ecyclegroup. I shipped out 53 cartridges and they deemed over half of them as "damaged". I cleaned them all good and enclosed a list of what I had and what I expected. Should have been 117.50 and they say I have 44.50. I sent them the following email:

I noticed you are processing shipment xxxxxx and have listed a lot of them as damaged or missing. I understand you might be in the middle of processing but I would like to request them to be recounted and reinspected. Please be aware that I do have photos and a detail of what was sent to you. All of these were inspected and cleaned up by me personally and were it great condition. Here is a list of all the cartridges that were shipped to you:

    29 HP78

    2 HP49

    2 HP97

    23 HP15

    9 HP45

Thank you for your attention to this matter and let me know if you need anything else from me

    Here is their reply:
Dear Kevin, I am glad that you have photos. That will help us to determine if there is any damage to the print heads. All cartridges that are inspected are immediately processed and shipped out. We do not reinspect as we do not keep them around. We get approximately 1,200 boxes daily and need to move the materials out, once they are inspected. Our inspectors take their time to inspect each and every cartridge and all are circuit tested. If the cartridges are dated 2009 and earlier, they are automatically marked damaged as they are too old. Please email me the pictures you have because this info email queue does not accept attachments. We are in the process of completing your inspection of lasers. Thank you for your patience. Thank you. Sincerely,

    Leslie Spoden

I just sent them this email back. I will keep you all posted!

    Leslie,
Thank you for getting back to me so soon. I have attached all the pictures that I have when I packaged everything to send to you. Can you please direct me to where on your price list or website that it states cartridges dated 2009 and earlier and automatically considered damaged? I have looked everywhere and cannot find that anywhere. Had I known thisI would have checked the dates and made of note of them. This is very disappointing that you have deemed half of what I sent "damaged" and have reduced my payment by over half. Since they were all in excellent shape I am assuming they were deemed "damaged" due to the date. Please let me know what can be done about this. Thank you for your time.

Quite possibly the best ever second post on this forum. Admin: give this guy some rep just for this post! I've used ecyclegroup quite a few times & never heard of this 2009 rule. Possibly that explains some things.

Thanks again & welcome to SMF!!

I figured the date thing was unknown. I looked everywhere and could not find it. I guess I don't understand their angle. Why not disclose that and save people from shipping them and ecycle having to pay to ship them. I guess is comes down to the $20.00 deal. They hope that the shipper will think they have 50.00 worth of stuff and then turn around and have 15.00 worth and won't get a check until they get to the 20.00. I assume also they don't just throw those old ones away, they have a buyer for those. I guess the real angle is if we don't know to look a the dates then we have no recourse when they say the dates are old, like my situation!!

Maybe a thing with all the recyclers is why the members are coming up short. No need to rebuild a cartridge for a printer that is going obsolete (2 yr. and more). There's a "new" printer come out every 3-4 months.

The only problem w/that theory is that some of them were accepted(the same type of cartridges for the same printers). I personally think it is a full on SCAM! There are too many stories out there where only half were accepted as "good". They know there is no way for us to prove otherwise.
