    Silver Contacts!!! GRRRRR!!!

Anyone have a quick method for removing the silver contacts off that flimsy piece of copper they are usually attached to? I can't get 'em easily with the dykes, screwdrivers ain't worth nothin', I got half a mind to cut them in half and see if they pop out easier!
Wait, that might work, back to the basement!

The easiest way I've found is to use a chisel and hammer. pops em right off.

I first cut the portion of copper/silver contact away from rest of copper strip. Then I use two small wire cutters (6"), I place backside of cutters on opposite sides of silver contact (disk/tab). Do not try to cut, but use enough pressure to positively grip both sides of contact. Utilize a 3/4 counter twist motion and contact pointed down towards wide catch basin, will normally just pop out! Took me awhile to develop this technique with contacts going all over the place, was very frustrating. Now I do it with ease, every once in awhile the contact will hang on to the copper by a "thread of copper".Then you just grab it with needle nose pliers and gently pull, separating contact. It is a tedious process no matter how you skin it!

I use nail clipers and grab the contact across its centre and bend the strip hard at that point and the contact hopefully pops thru the strip, then I can rip the contact thru the strip and dump it in the bucket.

Or, on smaller strips, I grab the contact by cutting thru the strip beside the contact, the clippers are at 90 deg to the strip, and squeezing. Normally it cuts thru the strip at its weakest point, then I lever out and the contact falls into the bucket.
I also use a pair of sidecutters for this, the contact drops into a small void at the bottom of theg jaws V, sits there, one squeeze and tthe strips cracked the contact falls into the bin
