I studied into that myself awhile back, and all I found for small timers was a bunch of horror stories. Seems they charge by their expenses in refining the materials, every load gets charged (my guess) for a full process ( startup, aquisition of chemicals, equipment, processing, manpower, refining, sales, shutdown, cleanup, disposal of wastes ), and unless you had a boxcar load, your return on a smaller batch might net you a $2 or $3 return.
Similar to needing a ride to the store, but instead of taking a taxi, getting a 747 instead (by the time they got that thing fired up, your pocket money would be gone ; )
Yea, you really have to have ton+ to even think about it. Even further, you need to have a ton+ of a certain item, not just mobo mixed with finger mixed with peripheral mixed with telecom etc.
Plus you need the financial ability to sit and hold. I'm on a two year plan. That doesn't mean that life isn't going to sucker punch me, and that I'm not going to have to sell it all off.
