    Some remotes operate TV's that they were not intended to operate.

    Years ago I had paid NZ$100 for a egg shaped remote for my Sony 29inch CRT (State of the art @ the time...)
    Later I found that a Sony remote for a different TV worked on it as well, it also brought up a whole bunch of different options on the screen inc serial # & country options.



    You can do a similar thing with the programmable remotes if you try other codes in it.
