    Nortel BayStack 450 Switches

Hello everyone. I scrap metal in the Indiana/Kentucky/Cincinnati area. I have been scrapping for a few years, first out of necessity (lost my job), then just because I really like the extra money and all the different things you find. I usually sell my computers to other forum members because I was mainly focused on metal rather than escrap. Lately, I have been buying auctions for scrap because I've been finding quite a few deals. I usually find the answers to my questions in other threads but this time I've had no luck.

I just purchased 50 network switches for 30.00.

    They are:

    19 Nortel Networks BayStack 450-24T (AL2012A14) 24-port Ethernet switches: 8 w/ 400-2FX MDA (AL2033002), 10 w/ 400-ST1 cascade modules (AL2033010)

    2 Nortel Networks BayStack 450-12T (AL2012A15) 12-port Ethernet switches: 2 w/ 400-2FX MDA (AL2033002), 1 w/ 400-ST1 cascade module (AL2033010)

    6 Nortel Networks BayStack 450-24T (AL2012A14) 24-port Ethernet switches: 5 w/ 400-2FX MDA (AL2033002), 3 w/ 400-ST1 cascade modules (AL2033010)

    4 Nortel Networks BayStack 450-12T (AL2012A15) 12-port Ethernet switches: 4 w/ 400-2FX MDA (AL2033002)

    1 Bay Networks BayStack 450-24T (AL2012A14) 24-port Ethernet switch

    1 Bay Networks BayStack 450-12T (AL2012A15) 12-port Ethernet switch: w/400-2FX MDA (AL2033002)

    2 Bay Networks BayStack 450-12F (AL2012A19) 12-port 100BASE-FX switches: 2 w/ 400-4TX MDA (AL2033004)

    2 CISCO Catalyst 2950C-24 (WS-C2950C-24) 24-port (10/100) + 2-100BASE-FX port

    1 CISCO Catalyst 2950-24 (WS-C2950-24) 24-port (10/100)

    1 CISCO Catalyst 2950G-24-EI (WS-C2950G-24-EI) 24-port (10/100) + 2-GBIC port

    5 Nortel Networks BayStack 450-24T (AL2012A14) 24-port Ethernet switches: 5 w/ 400-2FX MDA (AL2033002), 4 w/ 400-ST1 cascade modules (AL2033010)

    2 Nortel Networks BayStack 450-12T (AL2012A15) 12-port Ethernet switches: 1 w/ 400-2FX MDA (AL2033002)

    1 Bay Networks BayStack 350-24T (AL2012A17) 24-port Ethernet switch

    1 Nortel Networks BayStack 450-24T (AL2012A14) 24-port Ethernet switch: w/ 400-ST1 cascade module (AL2033010)

    1 Bay Networks BayStack 450-12F (AL2012A17) 24-port 100BASE-FX switch: w/ 400-4TX MDA (AL2033004)

    1 Bay Networks BayStack 350F 10/100 AutoSense (AL2012A02) 12-port Ethernet switch

They were all working when pulled.

It appears from a quick search they weigh about 11-12 pounds a piece so I figured I'm at 50-60 dollars in shred so I really won't lose money even counting gas.

While I'm sure I can get rid of some of these on ebay, does anyone know what grade of boards are in network switches?

I don't have a problem storing them, but I'm not a big ebay fan. Should I wait it out and just try to sell the switches or would it be worth it to break some of them down and send them to a forum buyer?

Have you punched in a couple of model #'s into Ebay to see how their selling? You can see the completed auctions to see if their selling and for how much. That would give you your best answer. If their computer switches then the boards should be mid-hi grade.

You should have no problem selling them all for $10 to $20 bucks a piece on ebay. Or strip the boards out of them and they should fetch around $3.50 to $4.00 a pound from most of us buyers here on the forum.

That is kind of what I was thinking. I might see what I can get for the Cisco switches and scrap the rest. Cisco has a better name. I have a pretty good box growing and this may give me enough to send it to a buyer.

Thanks for all the help guys.
