yes they kept the copper. I don't think it's financially viable for them otherwise. I didn't get a weight on copper but I know that the trace, legs and so on can get pretty heavy. Even a chinese motherboard can have several ounces of copper trace. (not always but some motherboards are six or even ten layers of circuit trace.
