Glad you are enjoying the thread! I had a 72 f100 , miss that truck!
Busy doing construction work most the time lately and messing around with the 5th wheel and getting my 54 ford ready for paint, but have been picking up scrap metal here and there, but the latest big load has been the body of a 63 chevy suburban ( same body style as my truck but a suburban) have 90% of the body in the back of the truck still have to go back and cut up the frame...a friend bought it as a parts vehicle it had rolled off of a trailer at some point in its life and was pretty messed up and by the time my friend got it, it was mostly gutted and stripped, but it didnt die in vain , cut out different patch panels that will be used to fix my friends other 60-66's suburban and a panel truck, rear end will go to another buddys 62 chevy stepside, and front crossmember and suspension came with me to be modified to get my truck lower in the front one day down the road.....
My scrapping has slowed down lately but im still here havent forgot about you guys! happy scrapping!

Well I got to say the scrap metal cards I made are working, due to not having alot of free time due to doing construction side jobs , I havent been pursuing scrapping much as I was and havent been posting ads on craigslist , but im still getting a few calls off the cards...today i picked up a heavy cast iron tub and some other metal items! :
This will be my first cast iron tub i scrap and was wondering ?at most yards you guys goto does it go straight in the metal bin or do they pay different for cast iron? Im going to ask the guys at my yard either way just curious??

When I had a bunch of cast iron sinks, I brought them to TKO and they said to just throw it into the bin with everything else...I think Sac Scrappers might pay differently for it though. You should call them and ask.

I got to get it out of my truck tomorrow since i have a crown moulding job in rocklin monday ,And Sac scrappers is one of the only yards open on sundays so ill most likely take it there and ask, was just curious if the average yard pays separate for cast iron then steel since ive never taken in any cast before , besides small stuff i just throw in the metal bin.....how is you and your business doing lately??

Some local scrapper guy was telling me that they pay 0.11/lb for "heavy iron" whatever that is. Things are going well, I've taken a break from actively selling this week to reorganize my warehouse...got some pallet racking for free. It makes a big difference space-wise. At least, it looks like it will once I get everything onto the racks lol. Too bad though, the weather has been awesome, and it would have been nice to get out. I've been buying some e-waste lately, but haven't been hitting it terribly hard. I still make weekly trips to the scrap yard though...I end up with a lot of junk in auction lots that I buy.
BTW, I know TKO is open on sundays too if you have non-ferrous to sell. They have much better prices.

Good to hear your doing well! And nice score on the pallet racking for free! My motto has always been "If its free, It's for me!" !! I have never been to a auction kinda sounds fun, i guess when you find the good stuff it would make it worth wild of all the junk...I dont know what you buy as far as auction lots , but you would be surprised what you can sell on ebay if you dont already sell on there, I sell on ebay as a partime income and some of the stuff i have sold on there i was suprised how much some of it sold for, any thing from x-mas ornaments, fishing lures, coustume jewelry, stamps, sports cards, car parts etc etc... If i think i can make money off it and it fits in a flat-rate shipping box it goes on ebay, and the bigger stuff on craigslist.....but I understand some people dont have the time to deal with ebay and shipping, or dealing with random people on craigslist..
