thanks Unknownk, that's kinda funny about the slot injector type, I never really liked them, just personal preference I guess, but presumed dust could settle on the slot inlet and have an abrasive effect on the disks
I have one in a Compaq tower, I think there is some kind of device that keeps the dust off when you insert a CD but am not sure (been years since I actually looked at how it took a disc). Thing is Pioneer (among others) has been using that kind of slot loading in a car (worse conditions then a house) with no issues about scratched disks.
