Yeah i find i have better luck if i ask them "so what where you lookin to get for it?" rather than telling them what id pay. You can work them down rather than them trying to work you up in price. Most people either have no idea what they are worth (usually is 100 bucks anyways) and say just gimme 100 bucks. Then you get the clowns that want like
400-500 bucks.
