You are going to need to talk to someone who is higher up the chain in order for them even to consider this for you. But if they can make some money off them let them.

Also say that you have a regular supply but don't tell them anything about your large stash or about your husband's condition, otherwise you will sound desperate which might attract thugs. This is just a thought. I've never done anything like that so this suggestion is not based on direct personal experience. You might not get any responses at all, of course. But the ad is free so it might be worth trying. Just don't forget to renew the ad every few days.

The logistics alone will be a job in and of itself. You are looking at around 21,000 to 25,000 lbs in weight alone. I would not suggest taking this on without doing a lot of in depth homework. I have around 4000 monitors now stored in 4 semi trailers. You can put around 1250 monitors in a trailer if you put them on a pallet. If you are not in a position to handle massive volume just in weight and size then you may want to think this one over. Then there is fuel also. From my place it would be a couple hundred bucks in fuel also. I am going to give this some thought to see if I can figure a way to help these folks out, but I am certainly not making any promises. I take CRT monitors myself as part of the services I offer, but I am in a position to deal with them until I am ready to deal with them. Life has dealt these folk a bum deal or I would not even consider it. My stepping in to help would not be based on sound business practice. The DNR (Department of Natural Resources) in Iowa has regulations even on the storage of these kinds of assets. Do not plan on planting these in your back yard or in the basement of your dorm at college.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you in Burlington. I will see if I can help you. How pressed are you for time? I have 50,000 lbs of telecom equipment coming in this week and 2 more loads of the same stuff next week, so I am VERY busy right now.
There may a million better places to live than Iowa, but none of them are home!

Thank you to all who are praying for my family. It looks like I still need someone who wants these monitors. We had some interest but I tried to call them today and no answer. I am concerned about recycling them properly, playing by the rules. I need someone who just wants to pick them up. And I had another upset this week too in that the school system and others have more for us to take. I would like to start a relationship with a business partner who would like to collect them after we have picked them up. But I still have them in storage and for $85 per month for a year and a half these monitors are really costing me. I tried to call our local landfill, and it would work for future monitors, all we would have to do is charge the customer what the landfill does plus a small fee for gas. It still leaves me with 700 monitors. If anyone can help me I am desperate.
What about ebay? Sell as one lot, or split it into smaller lots. Might catch the eye of a large e-cycler.
I did a search a bit ago for "bulk monitors". Didn't find anything helpful, but did find something interesting. Gonna go start a new thread.

i'm very sorry yall are in such a jam, and I do hope you'll get someone who can deal with that.
Have you tried calling or contacting goodwill directly ? If you'll look them up online, you'll find they have regional main offices. I contacted one near here, through the "contact us" email, which went right to the regional office, and got an almost immediate response from the regional director, confirming that they (and all the north tx and south ok area goodwill stores) accepted crt monitors. Possibly (and hopefully) yours will as well, and could even possibly arrange for a pickup of so many?
