    ford 250v10

I am looking at a ford 250 with a v10. I am also looking at a ford 350 any opinions mainly on the v10, anyone. The price and mileage are great considering it is an 02. I read conflicting reports on the v10. care to chime in?

From what I hear, you get better mileage and more grunt from a Diesel than the V10. Although my friends dad has a V10 ram I believe and that thing could pull a house down.

do they still build the v10, if not there is probably a reason. the ford diesel will do any thing you want to do.

There was a post somewhere that someone commented saying they knew exactly how much it costs them to run every truck they own. I think it was liberty towing, but i'm not sure. if you can find out who it was, maybe you will be lucky and they own one or more of those engines.

Having owned a Ford Truck since 1977 F100 Camper special cosigned by Bank Of Mom
Currently the only difference between the F250 and SRW F350 is Badges, springs, spacer and sometimes axle
Current truck is the F350 2008 4X4 V10 auto Lariat with 100K miles >> gets 10 - 11 MPG running empty or pulling 2 large cars on the trailer
Prior was 02 F250 4X4 V10 auto loaded with everything >> Had 233K miles when I sold it to a local guy, He still uses it to pull his 5th wheel in the summer and snow plow in the winter
Prior was a 1995 F250 4X4 460 engine auto loaded with everything >> Had 252K miles when I sold it to a guy on the Cape

I work the trucks hard and keep up on the maintenance
To me diesel is just more noise and money, My V10's have been able to EVERYTHING i have every needed them to do
I buy them new, the Diesels I think they are getting about an extra 5K for the extra noise and more expensive upkeep

never have owned one but have worked on alot of v10s and powerstrokes. the v10 seems to have enough power but the like to have problems with exhaust studs in the heads and blowing spark plugs out but that seems to be typical of all the modular ford engines, 4.6 5.4 and the 6.8

DO NOT BUY THE V10. its not a matter of if but when it will blow the sparkplug right out of the head. Its cost me $450 to get it fixed and I traded it in the next week for a deisel. You have been warned. My v10 was in an excursion and I loved that thing. I want to get a deisel one next. I just made the last payment on my truck so ill be looking soon.

Went with the v8 gas 250... Same price as the v10 but 4 years newer. Thing Is nearly flawless for an 06. Thanks for the input.

It took a lot if searching and crawling around on the ground in 20 degree weather seeing a lot of horrific undersides of trucks. My partner gave it a second opinion, hooked up his scan tool and she's a keeper. I'm proud to own it.

Look like a sir pulling the trailer now.

Nice looking truck. Are those the 17 or 18 inch wheels? Might want to look up on CL for a set of 16 from an older model to save a little on tires in the future.
