Some times at McDonalds you see a trash can of AL pop drink pulls filled to the top for the benefit of kids.

So...is it smarter to pull the tabs off? Are they worth more separate from the can?

I walked into my brothers garage once and he was doing this. I asked him what the heck he was doing and he said I'll get more money if I seperate the tabs. I told him no......you won't and to stop doing that. Just to give you an idea of what he had can wise, when we took them in later that week he got $294....for cans....and he was tryinbg to pull the tabs off them all!

Isn't admin always showing us pics like this. He is very good at his job me thinks!
Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.

Around here the yards have their dumpsters there at the factories and are buying the high dollar scrap. Smaller guys like me cannot compete on price paid.

Smaller shops usually dont have dedicated scrap bins. One of my friends fathers runs a small machine shop and he takes in the scrap himself 6 barrels at a time. Once he sold it to a scrapper just because he was too swamped with work to take the time to haul the chips and shavings to the yard.

I like AL I should focus on cans more ,I'll start to day. - But Hypoman
As you stated " we took them in later that week he got $294....for cans....and he was trying to pull the tabs off them all!"
Tabs are just AL if not for the companies that say they will donate for each tab why bother unless the tabs are more weight dense??

I think the whole tab thing is just a symbolic jester of giving and doesn't add up to much but better then nothing. They don't have the room for whole cans that can make a mess as well. Best to turn the cans in and write a check if you want to donate.
