Quick update. I listed 2 TEAC 5.25 drives together as a package on November 25th and just sold them today for $54.99 including shipping. This is a direct quote of my item description:
"Pair of TEAC 5.25" floppy drives model FD-55GFR. These units have not been tested and are being sold as-is with no warranty or returns. Price includes shipping to US lower 48 only, via economy method. Items exactly as shown in photos will be shipped."
I sent the items out via USPS Priority for $11.50 (using
eBay shipping discount), and eBay had a final valuation fee of $3.30 (because I have a store, I get a discount). Not sure what I'm going to pay to PayPal, but cant be too much. Therefore I estimate my "profit" at around $20 per unit not including the nominal charges for ink, paper, packing tape and bubble wrap. USPS will pickup at my home, but in this case I'm driving by the P.O. so I'll probably just drop it off.
Not sure if all this info is helpful, but just want to reiterate that there is money in those 5.25 floppies! On a side note, I came across another drive that was an off brand and I knew was exposed to the elements, although there was no physical indication. That one I just threw in the "to be scrapped" pile instead of selling something with only a remote chance of working.
