It is and i isn't - true the e-waste is leaving NY, but with other states enforcing similar regulations regarding CRTs, it isn't really. Final nail for now was the port closures in California as California takes their e-waste laws and regs very seriously. NY tries to mirror it as close as they can without anyone complaining about them too much. Exporting of e-waste should be outlawed everywhere but that's my opinion and mine alone.Quote:

From my research most R-2 is still going overseas. They just need to document everything, like where and to who overseas. How many refiners are there in the USA? ANYBODY really know how many?
Us as Americans made this mess to begin with, and us as Americans should fix it - not export it and hope someone's dealing with it. We need to figure out the best safest way to handle this. If this means processing and refining in-house, then that's what it means. I stand by my statement of E-waste exporting should be illegal. To me the definition of E-waste is everything that's not sellable or the left over WEEE scrap. Boards, motors, relays, etc.. are sellables and to me aren't considered E-waste. Everyone has their own definition of what E-waste is apparently.Quote:

Get your facts straight. There are regs that have made manufacturers responsible for the proper recycling and disposal of their products.
Vast majority of the products used in this country are manufactured over seas.
And I dare say we ,in this country are handling more than our share. And doing it responsibly.
There is a *Blame America First* mentality all over the media, liberal polititions, universities, all the way down to grade school. It is being taught and needs to be addressed and stomped out whenever possible. I agree with you JF.

If we all switched to e-cars and wind power in the next year, how many plant workers would lose their jobs. I'm no economist, I am somewhat of a political idealist, but I recognize the merits of sustainable growth and am very thankful for the fact that communist or fascist ideals can't warp our society into doing what the govt sees as "the best solution to the situation at hand".
