It's up 50% for me (in the last 6 months) from my original choice so now I get 3 quotes and take the lowest which so far is almost always $50 less than the highest quote. There are also class calculators online so that you can calculate your class of freight . Lower classification usually equals lower cost so now I try and pack it all as dense as possible and make my pallets at least and over 1000 lbs each on a standard 40 x48 pallet.
I am sure Gorven could shed some light on this whole process as I believe he know more than most when it comes to LTL.
Any helpful hints to get the best possible pricing would be helpful.
Quick and dry way to save on freight is to keep pallets within 48x40x48 dimensions... some will go a little taller up to 50 on the height, but I wouldn't push it.
Keep the pallet as DENSE as possible. Pack tight!

There is a significant driver shortage right now... carriers are not wanting to move "cheap" freight because they are already over capacity!

This is the new "new". Either the economy has to slow down or we need more drivers on the road with equipment!
