Cool Scrap Diva - Double rooftop air conditioner job. 5 videos more to come.

As requested by fellow scrapper. Rooftop A/C unit. Here we are doing two rooftop A/C Units. Make sure the unit is recovered. Meaning: The freon has been evacuated, legally and environmentally friendly manner. Heavy fines are in place for a reason.

We had to hours to get these units loaded from the roof. Onto the flatbed truck, dropped at the scrapyard, and then stripped so we can get paid out.

Enjoy and more to come, still new to this internet stuff.
Let us know what else you wanna see.

It was I who requested info on why folks weren't bidding on a rooftop unit. Thanks for the info and follow up!

They're easy to do. Just need cordless drill with a 5/16 nut driver and a 1/2 wrench. Bolt cutters to cut the wire and copper. A sawzall would be needed to clean the rads unless you like the sharp knife method. I myself use a gas chopsaw. I know "show off!"
To get these units, I pay 10 cents a lbs and they load it. I pay for the delivery to the yard. ($75.00)
Don't ask the crane operator, as he gets to charge an extra hour to the bill for dropping it off. You contact the A/C installer himself because he's saving $300 and your paying him $100 to do so.
Happy hunting and hope you all the best.

The trick is to be there when the new one arrives. These units are ordered and everyone gets Purchase Order's before the order is processed. Hence, we can line jobs up 2 to 3 weeks in advance. Make the calls spread the news to your local overhead A/C guys. Tell em you'll pay $100 each unit, unless really small, and they'll call you a week in advance to make sure you clear your appointments.
A word to the wise: Never be late. EVER. The crane operators are getting $300 to $600 a hour. Dont be late, bring coffee too.

Just curious how much did you get for all of the scrap from these A/C units?

I just got a call to take away a couple of these from the contractor who is removing them from the roof. They will load them onto my trucks. Really glad I searched for this old thread!
