It was I who requested info on why folks weren't bidding on a rooftop unit. Thanks for the info and follow up!

The trick is to be there when the new one arrives. These units are ordered and everyone gets Purchase Order's before the order is processed. Hence, we can line jobs up 2 to 3 weeks in advance. Make the calls spread the news to your local overhead A/C guys. Tell em you'll pay $100 each unit, unless really small, and they'll call you a week in advance to make sure you clear your appointments.
A word to the wise: Never be late. EVER. The crane operators are getting $300 to $600 a hour. Dont be late, bring coffee too.

Just curious how much did you get for all of the scrap from these A/C units?
