I agree, but it was one of the first times I had ever even been to a scrapyard. When I picked up the appliance, although I was familiar with how anything refrigerated works, it didn't even dawn on me how they removed the "
freon" at those places - until the guy said what he did - so I learned then it was supposed to be removed first. I was pretty certain then that he wasn't supposed to advise that I go in the back of their property and break federal law and vent whatever
refrigerant was in that appliance into the atmosphere - benefit of the doubt I thought maybe there was some weird law that it's OK in certain places.... I don't know - sorry it's not funny but I find that kind of stuff (stupidity) funny even though it's really not - like seeing someone hammering on a magnetron to take it apart or something. Again, I didn't cut anything - not even the power cord, I was very new to this type of thing.

I am going to get certified at some point when I have more time, not so I can scrap refrigerators and what not, but just something to have in my pocket - hobby/DIY type thing. I don't like to pay to have things done, I like to do things myself.
