I used to run my cases (And any other shred) in with a longbed Chevrolet C10 that I put a rack on. My rack was about 4' tall over the bed height if I remember correctly. It was big (I actually had a cop run away onto the shoulder as he passed me). A high truck isn't illegal and I had a roof so nothing was going anywhere, but you get the point- I could load a LOT of cases. My weight was about 1300# loaded once. That's with WAY more cases than you have. And that trip pretty much paid for my gas and a hamburger. Shred prices were about the same then as they are now....
The point is that hauling in shred is something I do, because I need to get the stuff out of here, not for the money. I've switched from using the old C10 to haul shred to a 16' horse trailer. I doubt I'll make even enough extra per trip to cover the cost of buying the trailer (And it's a cheap trailer). The reason I did it was to cut down on the number of trips to the scrapyard. It's a waste of time for me to be running shred loads.

On buying an ultra-cheap truck: Don't do it. I've had one cheap truck that I've bought that wasn't total trouble. That was a 1986 Dodge that I paid $450 for at a county auction. Every other cheap truck I've bought has caused me more problems and lost money than I want to even think about. Don't buy a $500 scrapping truck. It's going to let you down a lot.
