    The typical electric dryer runs on 215/220V like an electric stove or oven so if the cord is attached to the electric dryer - it can be removed because not everyone's wiring in their home is the same and not all wall connectors for 220V are the same - the removable cord is much larger than the one on a gas dryer (not owner removable).
