Degaussing wire, unless alum of course, goes as #2 Cu here, individual wire within them not thick enough for anything else. Almost all of my non-insulated copper goes as #2. I rarely get heavy enough gauge to strip. I'm not one of P76's high volume scrappers but the non-ferrous place I go know me and know that I bring in sorted and clean material and I'm not out to pull one over on them. Last night I took a bag full of insulated #2 and box of assorted clean alum in at the end of the day. The guy barely looked at them.
