Apples and oranges. But it depends on what you want to use it for. If you are just weighing something for yourself to give you a good idea of what you've got, then go ahead and get a "not too expensive" scale. But if you are looking to use the scale to make purchases for profit, then get a scale that is legal for trade. Those are not cheap. But to me there are ethics that should be adhered to and an honest scale is one of them.
