New to scrapping- how to get best pricing

Hello-

New to scrapping, but would like to approach the topic seriously. Curious, how would you suggest a person that lives in the vicinity of many scrap yards, figure out the best price for a particular metal? Do I need to call each yard every time I have something to scrap? Should I expect large discrepancy in prices for small amounts of metal?

I guess I am wondering if I should be accepting the first reasonable price I get on my small loads or if there is a benefit to checking a few dealers.
