Keeping track of pounds recycled per year.

Do you guys and gals keep track of how many lbs of scrap you recycle throughout the year?

At the end of the year we always call the yard we sell to and ask them for our totals for the year. How much we made and how many lbs we brought in for various things.

It adds up, if you're not sure how much you're actually recycling poundage wise rather than actual money, the numbers can be pretty startling especially for steel since it's the most common. It adds up quick, next thing you know you look back and realize you've recycled a few hundred thousand pounds and say wow.

I wish prices were a little higher this year, seems to have been a lower paying year compared to previous ones.

If I did the math right, 100,000 lbs of scrap, worth $150 per ton only amounts to around $7,000. But to even look back and think you were responsible for scrapping 100,000 lbs of metal, it gives you a different perspective on it all.

Let's make some new years resolutions and see how much scrap we can really recycle in 2015.
