Steel Toed Boots.

I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything. I thought it would be cool if we had a thread for boots. So we can see who has the best bang for your buck Ill start.

i wear shoes or just some timberland hiking style boots.No need for steel toed boots lol

I was wearing some ' off the web, second hand' "ralph lauren polo" boots.
Though they ***** well, I suspect they were copys because the bootlaces dudn't last long.
Good quality boots would come with good quality laces, laces are the first thing they would cheap out on.

But after 5 months, one setta laces, two runs of stitching broken, soles worn thru...
That admitted water, which made them stink. I was hoping they wold last till the end of this scrapping run, but, last night the smell got too bad and into the rubbish they went.

So right now I'm wearing two day old 'Bison - mohican' boots, steel capped. Chinese made second hand off the web thru the NZ equal of ebay boots.
Let's see how long they last.....
Since I do a lot of walking, I don't really expect the soles to last past 7 months. Even with screw on replaceable soles the most I get is 6 months.
The longest lasting soles ever were on a pair of NZ made 'Earthwalk' boots, years... Still can't believe it, I dunno what they made them out of. The leather was all gone and the soles were just worn a bit.

Ankle support is very important.

Redwings are my favorite. Kindof expensive, but worth it.

My friend swears by his Dewalt shoes with a carbon fiber toe in them. He says they are not rated for as high of an impact but they get the job done.

My safety boots and shoes are paid for by work. I like to scrap in the shoes though.

I go with what I can get from a friend that does clothing recycling. Nothing beats free boots, pants, and shirts!

The last pair of boots that I actually paid for was about 3 years ago. They were made by Georgia Boot, and were the tall lace up/stell toe version. I still have them, but don't wear them as much. The top eyelet pulled out about a year ago, but the rest of the boot is fine.

The best boots I ever owned were a taller Irish Setter (Red Wing, basically). I had them for about 4-5 years. The sole was completely bald, and the inner was just starting to tear. I'd pay for another pair of those in a heartbeat. They're well worth the money.

The last couple of pairs I got were free 2nd-hand Ariats. Nothing to write home about. If my friend gets more in for recycling, I'll gladly take them for free. But, I wouldn't pay the new price ($129) for them. I've had three pairs. The inner lining fell apart on one pair, and the side of the sole blew out on the other. Pair number 3 seems alright so far. For the price, though, I won't complain.

I go with the Brahma steel toe boots from Wal-Mart. They're okay. The leather wears off the steel toes pretty quickly but otherwise they last about a year.

The best pair i ever had was Red Wings.



The steel toe rubber boots from Wal-Mart that come about 2/3 up the calf are nice in the winter because you can tromp through snow and slush all day and never get your feet wet. A couple of pair of wool socks underneath keep your feet warm.

The rubber boots can be prone to splitting at the back ankle. We live on a farm, and use those for irrigation. We can get about 1 summer per pair. For $20, not too bad.

I've never heard much good luck with the Walmart shoes, though. For most people, they're cheap and "good enough", though.
