    The last time I checked concrete or soapstone isn't worth anything for scrap.



    I hope he didn't take a hammer to it like some suggested and broke it. I think he could have gotten something for it from someone restoring an old home. If he damaged it trying to figure out what it was it would have been landfill material which is worthless.

    Sure looks allot like "manganese". Your description also sounds like manganese.It is non-magnetic is often mistaken for stone or concrete.But its hard to say for sure from the picture.But my money is on manganese

    it resembles a sink...I tyhink it is a zinc lined sink basin. Made of wood or stone and wrapped with zinc. Are we taking bets yet?
