Anvil, boiler and metal the mighty metalbestos

I have a few pics to share , most os older equipment from a steel factory here in Baltimore . Don't wore none of this is going to get scrapped . I also will add pics here as I get new loads or other cool things.

These are of the metal fabricator , this machine is over 100 yrs old and was designed to bend rails .

Here is a very heavy old anvil .

    Here is the furnace thingy.

These are a bunch of ornamental steel some aluminum , going to hopefully incorporate them in a stone wall design with wrought iron .

This is what I'm using to cut pipe into size .

Great looking stuff. As a matter of fact, I think that anvil would look great in my garage. LOL

I certainly will not , my intention was to mount it on a tree stump inside so I can whack things on it . I will go take a look and see if it has the made in USA on it . The huge cone in the first pic was used to make circles by blacksmiths or I was told . I will keep you updated . Glad you guys like the pics . Plenty more to come.

The item in the first photo, beside the cone shaped thing is a "box and pan brake" It is used to bend sheetmetal and has adjustable clamp jaws to clear parts of the metal you don't want to bend.

    Waiting for more pics....interesting!!

    Metal,

Those pics are awesome. If you ever even think to scrap that stuff call me so I can knock some sense into you.

NA your drooling all over the keyboard! Leave that man's metal alone!

Me and Baltimore aren't friends, but **** that city has some cool architecture from back in the day. Next time I'm up that way, maybe I can purchase the nickle tour of your collection for the cost of access to the cooler.

I eagerly await your next round of awesomeness in pictures.

    Thanks for sharing!

Sirscrapalot - If you scrap any of that an I find out, I'm totally revoking your Cooler Puller club membership.

    Wow .... neat find.

Back in the day most people were illiterate so symbology was used in place of writing.Children were taught from an early age what the meanings of the symbols were. The symbols were like the modern day pictograms. Today there are universal symbols for danger, radiation hazard, electrical shock hazard, women's restrooms, men's restrooms, etc. We see them all the time but we don't really notice them. Pretty kool cause they are a universal language. Doesn't matter if you are english, chinese, russian, or african. If you "get the picture" then you get the picture so to speak...

According to this link they were mass produced in the mid 1900's during the heyday of Freemasonry in America.

Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library: Trivets

Gotta wonder about it's use and the interpretation of the symbols though ..............

There's the Masonic square & compass. That's pretty universal, even nowadays.

There's the horseshoe but it's pointed down. The horse shoe was always pointed up so that your luck wouldn't run out. Doesn't make sense in this context.

Looks like a Fleur-d-lis on the bottom ?

It's definitely not OES because it doesn't have the pent symbol. It's something that a man used but for what purpose ?

It's a bit of a mystery left over from a bygone era.

    LOL .... don't mind me .... i'm just a bit of a geek sometimes.

Looks like it started out in life as a trivet. Those look like feet on the backside.

I think it's the thing you put on top of a stove . A place to but hot stuff or cooking utensils so not to touch the stove top .
Only thing I know for sure is it sounds French
