    You would have to be crazy to own a yard and allow people to "tip" your guys at the scale. How long do you think it would take for someone to make a deal where they get a percentage of any material they weigh "heavy"?

    Some yards prohibit tipping,I like going to 7/11 and buying 10.00 gift cards and giving them to the guy's that unload my truck not the weigh master,they all try to get to my load first,saves me lots of time,money well spent.

    BINGO!
    exactly whatI was thinking. These guys are full wage earners. I never have and never will tip them. They could lose their job and you could lose your privileges to sell at that yard.
