Flatscreen computer monitors have not even a penny of scrap in them unless you enjoy smashing glass over a trashcan.But yeah when you open it up theres the screen and a tiny low grade board nothing to it.What it gives you?Well you get a tiny low grade board,a screen,and some wire.

I have about 30 stacked up, so far all I've done is taken off the stand and bases, they have a bit of steel in them there.
they just look real fancy I would of thought there'd be something nice inside.
I guess if you didn't scrap it then you'd be a tiny low grade board,a screen,and some wire short.

Absolute worst case scenario throw it in the shred pile and get ~10 cents a pound.
EDIT: Just to be clear...I am not talking about CRT Monitors!

These are about 30% fingers and solid plated by weight. Also you can recycle the plastic and repurpose the plastic sheets or recycle them also. The only part i havnt been able to find a use for is the lcd panel itself.
Id hate for you to throw those out on the curb for someone like me to find. =)

lcd board fingers / solid plated trimmings $80-$150 per pound worst case scenario you get the finger base rate of $80 per pound There are also inverter boards and low grade boards in flat panel monitors, depending on what type you are scrapping.
The ribbon cable end fingers are worth $300+ per pound, the substrate is super thin/light. They can clearly be seen in the 1st picture i posted of complete boards.

Do you have a place to sell the plastic? All I have is a pop bottle /milk jug city recycle center and don't have a plastic baler.

As a general rule all plastic with the recycle logo on it can be recycled. If it says ABS on it you need to check with your local provider. Most of the stuff plastic were getting is ABS. The flat panel monitors should all have the recycle logo on there plastic parts. If your plastic has the recycle logo on it i wouldnt hesitate to put it in with the plastic at the local recycling center, and alot of times they sort the abs out of the regular plastics and resell it separately.Originally Posted by KrazyK

ebay, thin ribbon cable double sided gold fingers. Remember not all fingers are created equal. There about 20 diff subtypes of fingers.
Ive sold 1.4 ounces for $50 of the extremely thin solid plated stuff, thats $600 per pound. Solid plated goes for double of the finger rate or better.
The lot in this picture went for $50 on ebay.

I sell my mixed plastics from TVs, Computers, Dvd Players (really any electronic device) to the local E-cycling yard. last I checked it was going for $.08\lb

heck ya like others feel free to send them to me by the truck loads boards are nice sure low weight but still worth while let alone the gold in other boards and i save the screens right now since they do not take up much space as some one may buy them soon where i live thats worth shipping plus working ones can sell cheap at $5 more for better plus cables copper and parts to collect off them as well

My problem is I have no idea where that would be (>13,000 population). I know of nothing in Lincoln (1hr away) all I have found in Omaha (2hrs) say "Pay us to take your stuff". Right now it goes to the landfill but I would rather it didn't. I would give it (I would rather sell it) if I knew somewhere near.

Its all ribbon cable trimmings. They were mixed in with a scrap lot i bought on ebay. Your guess is as good as mine. Ive seen those types of calbes in laptop computers and cell phones though. I expect we will see alot more of the thin ribbon cable scrap in the future. As more and more compact electronics find there way to us.

I sell non-functioning flat screen monitors on craigslist for parts, as long as the screen itself is in tact. I have two guys who buy them. I get $10-$15 for the 19" especially if they have dvi inputs. I sell non-functioning 32"+ for $45+ all the time. There's money to be made in lcd's

Your getting screwed. At the motherboard rate your getting $4 per pound. Turn 1 pound of these boards into 3 ounces of fingers/solid plated trimmings for $15+. Takes 5min with a pair of scissors.

Found a 54inch flat screen tv next to a 20 something tube tv. Both had the cords cut off but i took the flat screen. laughing all the way home about how much the cord cutter missed out. Plus those gold boads are sweet!!!
