What you have is red stripe URD wire..ITS an underground cable.I buy alot of it.I also do recoveries on the material to determine copper/alum content.Honestly I cant imagine breaking any significant amount of this stuff down by hand.Ive stripped some with a stripper in the past but its not cost effective for me.The copper can be anywhere from 12% to 30% and the alum is generally 15% to 25% and it will vary by size a little.If it were mine I would cut off a foot of it and get a copper/alum recovery and then call your local yards with the information and get a price based on the recovery.You might be surprised
i always get number 1 for this copper, which right now is about 2.70(and thats pretty low) in about 5 feet there is 1-2 pound of copper plus alluminum, and it takes me only about 5-8 hours to get 100 pounds. pure profit man. so i mean its all about doing the math from there man
