I am not sure if it was mentioned, but after looking at this again, I hope you are planning on moving the spare. I see 2 possible options. One would just be to flip it to the opposite side of the rail that it is on now. If that is not an option, then possibly look to see if there is enough clearance to mount it on the outside of the gate far to the bottom if there is enough clearance when the gate is dropped.
