What am I missing on auction prices?

What you are missing is resale value... Instead of looking at the whole computer and selling it as one piece, look at parting out and selling. The power supply can go as much as 150.00 or higher. You just need to find that "one" buyer that will buy it.
Some businesses that repair computers and have companies that use said computers can charge an arm and a leg.
The company that uses said computers, just want it to work, price no object. If they buy 1 or 10, it's all the same.

The person or company that bought those G5's has a purpose for those computers, they are not scraping them.

even if it says "for scrap" there still are parts that they need to keep theirs going.

This is a good point, although many do overpay at auctions. I know in Honduras, old Macs sell in computer stores like our Ipads sell here. There are buyers for these parts--All the more reason to sell internationally on Ebay.

Collecting more buyers is one aspect of my e-business that I have neglected. It would be handy to know what various collectors, buyers, & service providers around you are looking for.
