    George, common sense tells me that storage companies are not controlled by the feds, so then trickles down to the state and local municipalities. Storage companies opt for the auction style because in many cases it brings in more $$$ then if they sold the items outright or they don't want the hassle of selling it, also national chains have blanket policies so that every store is consistent and or protected.

    Newattitude, Not sure if these are Honda car motors you are talking about or more like the lawnmower style. When looking at contents of storage units that are up for auction you usually only have about 30 seconds or less to evaluate so unless I see some markings on something and know for sure what I would be getting I estimate the value on the low end and play it safe. I can tell you that some of the Honda car motors like the Vtec bring good money to the "Tuner" crowd.
