    computer server power supplies

i do alot with computer equipment i break everything down of the older stuff that i cant sell to scrap like circuit boards cables wires and steel case. i got alot of server power supplies out of HP dell compaq servers the rackmount kind with dual power supplies. i was wondering what is the scrap value of those. they are a mix of little transformers capacitors coils and circuit board. i was wonering if any scrap yards pay for them as transformers or balasts.

I read in some posts that some people have been getting transformer price for them but will depend on your yard I guess.

Personally I just break em open and grab the stuff. Usually doesn't take too long to cut the wires for my $1/lb wire pile, grab any aluminum heat sinks, then pull the transformers for my motor pile and grab the copper wire 'donuts' that I hit with a hammer and get the copper easy enough that way. Some of those donuts can have a 1/4 pound of copper each.

The rest goes in my shred bin.
