    Cast Iron

Over the years fooling around with old boats, I end up with old motors.
Question, the motors typically contain, aluminum pistons, steel crankshafts, not cast iron crankshafts, the cylinder heads are cast iron, but the heads have steel valves and steel springs. When you scrap an engine what do you need to do?
Thanks in advance for the reply.

I get a lot of boat motors from a guy who rebuilds/repairs them. The case usually goes as Irony Aluminum ( I assume that's the same as Dirty Aluminum). Some cases I found to be magnetic. Some motor parts are easily cut or unbolted to be Cast Aluminum or Extrusion. I usually get pistons by the bucketful. The rings are easily pried out and the pins to the rods are cut off.

I've got some cases set aside on advice from another rebuilder who suggested selling them on Craig's List.

    Welcome to the Forum. Enjoy.

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
