    heavy metal on tube saddles?

    on a monitor tube or tv tube there is a heavy gray metal saddle, it is also found surrounding some windings, what is this and is it worth saving?

    at my yard it goes in with the cheap stuff

    some where I read this stuff was worth about$3 a lb. but not many yards are familiar with it. Now I cant find the site to tell me what it is called.
